Analysis of the causes of excessive power consumption in centrifugal pumps

Leave a message

Centrifugal pumps are used for conveying clean water without solid particles and liquids with physical and chemical properties similar to water. They are mainly used for pressurized water supply in fire protection system pipelines, and can also be used for industrial and urban water supply and drainage, pressurized water supply in high-rise buildings, long-distance water supply, heating, bathroom, boiler cooling and heating water circulation, pressurized air conditioning refrigeration system water supply and equipment matching, and other occasions.
The main reasons for excessive power consumption in centrifugal pumps are as follows:
1) Wrong rotation direction
Elimination measure: Check the direction of rotation.
2) Impeller damage
Elimination measures: Check the impeller and replace it as required.
3) Rotating parts bite
Elimination measure: Check whether the clearance of internal worn parts is normal.
4) Axis bending
Elimination measures: Straighten the shaft or replace it as required.
5) Speed too high
Elimination measures: Check the winding voltage of the motor or the steam pressure transmitted to the turbine.
6) The water head is lower than the rated value. Too much liquid pumped
Elimination measures: Consult the centrifugal pump manufacturer. Install the throttle valve and cut the impeller.
7) Liquid heavier than expected
Elimination measures: Check the specific gravity and viscosity.
8) The packing box is not filled correctly (insufficient packing, not properly inserted or running in, packing too tight)
Elimination measures: Check the packing and reinstall the packing box.
9) Incorrect lubrication of bearings or bearing wear
Elimination measures: Check and replace as required.
10) Incorrect running clearance between wear rings
Elimination measure: Check if the gap is correct. Replace the wear-resistant rings of the water pump casing and/or impeller as required.
